When I first spoke with Ellie Rizoa, we explored the foundation of her world… her sample-based approach, and the way her music feels like emotions translated into sound.
This time, I wanted to zoom in on something more specific to a track that carries its own story.
Ellie’s track Unbind continues to build on everything we talked about before, but it also reveals something deeper. There’s a sense of grounding here, like stepping outside, taking a breath, and letting something heavy slowly dissolve.

Did the track start with a clear idea, or did it evolve along the way?
It evolved for sure. My tracks never start with a clear idea unless I’m creating for someone else. I let the music guide me and just marvel at the result later.
What role did emotion play in shaping this track?
Contained release is the overall emotion I was getting at. Slow entering of endorphins and dopamine and oxytocin, with the help of Mother Nature in the background. Roots, ya know?
What was the most challenging part of bringing this track to life?
The title itself haha, I was struggling for a while, because I didn’t want to name it “Release” or “Let Go”, I wanted it to feel like you were removing something heavy when you were done listening.
If you had to describe the journey of this track in one sentence, what would it be?
A smooth, spiritual one for sure.
What part of the track are you most proud of, even if listeners might not immediately notice it?
Soundscapes are straight from outside my door, and the fact that I got completely produced within my son’s nap time frame of 2hrs 😅
If someone discovers your music for the first time through this track, what do you hope it tells them about your artistic world?
That my music can sometimes be like a connector between the digital/corporate world we live in and Mother Nature we’re told to forget about.
I really like that parts of this track were captured right outside her door, shaped in a small window of time carved out between responsibilities. Turning a quiet moment of pause into something lasting. It blurs the line between life and creation, between the natural world and the digital one she speaks about.
And maybe that’s what makes this piece resonate with me the way it does. It doesn’t just sound grounded… it is grounded.
Thank you, Ellie Rizoa, for taking part in this interview and sharing this piece of your creative journey.
