Sometimes, a music project arrives from a very specific emotional place. Other times, it begins almost accidentally, through a phrase, a rhythm, or a single word that refuses to leave your mind. That’s part of what fascinates me about talking with artists. You often discover that what sounds carefully calculated to the listener was actually born from instinct, experimentation, or even coincidence.
I recently had the chance to reconnect with A Glitched Perception to talk about his newest release, Contention, a project that is larger than a single track. What started as one version quickly evolved into multiple reinterpretations, each exploring different textures and energies while still carrying the same emotional core.
In our previous interview, we explored his artistic journey, his love for experimentation, and the prism-like way he approaches sound and genre. If you read that article, you probably already know how difficult it is to place his music into a single category. That openness is still very present here, maybe even more than before.
What I enjoy most about following his work is that there’s never a sense of repetition. Every release feels like a new branch growing from the same creative universe.

Can you tell me more about the choice of the title: “Contention”?
I wish I had a better story, but it’s actually a chance of a word fitting the right rhyme scheme and meaning. I had a rhyme pop into my head and needed more words to flesh out what started as just a small poem. The poem then became a song.
I first listened to the original version of Contention you made back in January, but now you’ve created multiple remixes of the track and turned them into a full release. What inspired you to make more than one version of this track?
Well, I had made a Glitch Hop version very shortly after releasing the original and I had fun adding elements and changing things so I decided to work on a few more versions. I had originally not planned on releasing them, but I let a mutual friend listen to a version and he said that I should release them, so, here we are.
Were there any unexpected turns during the production process?
Thankfully no. Probably one of the rare times I didn’t have some kind of problem during production, haha.
Can you tell me more about the vocals?
I actually provided the vocals using a voice tweaker and some added elements. It’s one of my first times trying it in a track and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
If someone discovers your music for the first time through this music project, what do you hope it tells them about your artistic world?
I hope it shows them that I enjoy trying out different genres and maybe inspires them to try a different approach with their music. You never know, you may like the remix better than the original.
Are there any future projects you want to give us a sneak peek about?
I am currently mastering tracks for a release under Josh Whitbey. I don’t have a release date just yet, but will have more details soon.
There’s something refreshing about an artist who allows ideas to evolve this way. Projects like Contention remind me that creativity is often at its strongest when it’s given space to wander and transform naturally.
Hearing that there are multiple versions of the same track makes perfect sense within A Glitched Perception’s universe. If his music has always been about exploring different colors through sound, then revisiting the same song through different lenses feels almost inevitable.
Thank you, A Glitched Perception, for taking part in this interview and sharing more about the world behind Contention.
